Olga Chernysheva, *1962 in Moscow, lives and works in Moscow, Russia

Olga Chernysheva is considered one of the leading representatives of the Moscow Generation, which emerged in the 1990s at a time of great political and cultural change. Chernysheva’s works include drawing, film and photography, as well as essays, which are combined with still or moving images. With her eye for the cultural meaning of the seemingly insignificant, everyday moments, the artist continues the Russian tradition of Social Realism as a critical yet compassionate, contemporary narrative.
