Martin Schnur *1964 in 1964 in Styria, Austria. Lives and works in Vienna.

Schnur is regarded as one of the most prominent Austrian artists in the field of figurative painting. He embarked on his artistic journey at the School of Arts and Crafts in Graz from 1982 to 1985, refining his skills further in the Master Class for Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1985 to 1990. Renowned for skillfully integrating surrealist elements, Schnur’s artworks delve into the complexity of various spatial dimensions and realities. He meticulously crafts scenes ranging from fragmented landscapes to urban interiors, with a particular focus on the subtle interaction of light. While mastering painting techniques, he simultaneously weaves narratives that blur the boundaries between reality and dream, allowing viewers room for their interpretations. His works have been showcased in esteemed institutions such as the Museum der Moderne Rupertinum in Salzburg and the Essl Collection.
